Joel Randall Henry, 84, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Little Rock.

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 31st at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Pastor T.C. Melton officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.

Joel Randall Henry was born January 18, 1930 in Hereford, TX to William and Gertrude (Daughtry) Henry.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University and was with the U.S. Air Force, serving thirty-four years in civil service.

He served as assistant chief of supply officer at Reese in Lubbock and Dyess in Abilene.

He was married to Sarah Lou Henry and they had one son, Guy Michael Henry. Sarah preceded him in death 2010.

Joel lived in Merkel for the majority of his life, serving ten years on the Merkel School Board and was a deacon at Merkel First Baptist Church before moving to Lubbock, where he was a member and Sunday school teacher at Bacon Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Guy Michael Henry; daughter-in-law, Amy Howard Henry; and five beloved grandchildren, Meredith, John-Michael, Mason, Natasha, and Matthew.
