Carroll Alan Knost

Carroll A. Knost passed away Friday, June 26, 2009.
Carroll was born on Nov. 23, 1931, in a small house in Webb City.
He graduated from Webb City High School in 1949.
From August 1952 through June 1954, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean combat and was discharged with the rank of sergeant with seven combat decorations, including the Bronze Star.
Both before and after his military service he worked for R and S Motor Sales and eventually became the assistant manager of the Automobile Securities Company, a finance division for R and S. He was employed as the branch manager of Interstate Securities from 1961 to 1963. In July of 1963, Carroll started as an assistant cashier and, within a few years, worked as a commercial loan officer to rise to a senior vice president at First National Bank and Trust before leaving the bank in 1976.
He also graduated from the Central States Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wis.
Carroll was active for many years in a variety of civil and professional organizations. He served as the president/director for the Kiwanis Club of Joplin; the Joplin Chamber of Commerce; Ozark Playgrounds Chapter of American Institute of Banking; and the Lucky Ten Investment Club. He was also a trustee at the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin; treasurer of the R-VIII School District of Joplin; member of the Joplin Jaycees; and served on the Board of Directors at the Joplin Public Library.
Carroll lived in Topeka, Kan., from 1976 to 1989, pursuing his love of photography.
After suffering a stroke Carroll returned to Joplin, to reside at Spring River Christian Village. He continued his hobby of reading and was known for his outstanding memory and quick wit.
Surviving Carroll is his daughter, Cyndi Cogbill and her husband, Jamie; a sister, Barbara Ralston and her husband, Ken; grandson, Chris Evans and his wife, Shelly; granddaughter, Micah Evans; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Bailee, Kayci and Landyn; and nephews, Tony and Jeff McCreary and their families.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anne Surface Knost; and a daughter, Julie Knost.

Carroll Alan Knost

Carroll A. Knost passed away Friday, June 26, 2009.
Carroll was born on Nov. 23, 1931, in a small house in Webb City.
He graduated from Webb City High School in 1949.
From August 1952 through June 1954, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean combat and was discharged with the rank of sergeant with seven combat decorations, including the Bronze Star.
Both before and after his military service he worked for R and S Motor Sales and eventually became the assistant manager of the Automobile Securities Company, a finance division for R and S. He was employed as the branch manager of Interstate Securities from 1961 to 1963. In July of 1963, Carroll started as an assistant cashier and, within a few years, worked as a commercial loan officer to rise to a senior vice president at First National Bank and Trust before leaving the bank in 1976.
He also graduated from the Central States Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wis.
Carroll was active for many years in a variety of civil and professional organizations. He served as the president/director for the Kiwanis Club of Joplin; the Joplin Chamber of Commerce; Ozark Playgrounds Chapter of American Institute of Banking; and the Lucky Ten Investment Club. He was also a trustee at the First Presbyterian Church of Joplin; treasurer of the R-VIII School District of Joplin; member of the Joplin Jaycees; and served on the Board of Directors at the Joplin Public Library.
Carroll lived in Topeka, Kan., from 1976 to 1989, pursuing his love of photography.
After suffering a stroke Carroll returned to Joplin, to reside at Spring River Christian Village. He continued his hobby of reading and was known for his outstanding memory and quick wit.
Surviving Carroll is his daughter, Cyndi Cogbill and her husband, Jamie; a sister, Barbara Ralston and her husband, Ken; grandson, Chris Evans and his wife, Shelly; granddaughter, Micah Evans; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Bailee, Kayci and Landyn; and nephews, Tony and Jeff McCreary and their families.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anne Surface Knost; and a daughter, Julie Knost.
