Mara Lou Williams, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:58 P.M., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.
Mara Lou was a homemaker and had worked in the payroll department at the shipyard in Evansville, IN during World War II. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her home and family. She enjoyed embroidery and quilting as well as being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was born October 10, 1925 at Buckskin, IN, the daughter of Victor B. and Hilda F. (Martin) Maikranz.
She married James O. Williams on February 7, 1948 at Petersburg, IN and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter - Linda L. Campanella and husband Frank A. of Du Quoin, one son - James A. Williams and wife Shirley of Tamaroa, grandchildren - Vickie Thompson and husband Greg, Jamie L. Williams and wife Angela, Cara Huntley, Kenneth Williams, James F. Campanella and wife Winter, and Terry A. Campanella and wife Shea, great grandchildren - Shelbie Thompson, Grant Thompson, Holden Huntley, and Jonas Huntley, one great granddaughter expected in March - Isla Faith Williams, two brothers - Bill Maikranz and wife Marion of Evansville, IN and Victor Darvin Maikranz of Oakland City, IN, sister-in-law - Joanna Maikranz of Princeton, IN, numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers - Kenneth Maikranz and Robert Maikranz, one sister - Lois Morgan, great grandchildren - Storm, Elijah, Eden, and twins - William James and Alexandria Jean Campanella.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Colin Hirsch officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
