Genevieve (Jenny) Stephens 89 of Lancaster formerly of Stockport, passed away on Sat. Morning, Jan. 25, 2014 at the home of her daughter.

She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on Sept. 23, 1924 to the late Selkirk Atkinson Sr. and Mary Peters Atkinson Bowen.

She attended the River of Life Church in Carol, Ohio and was a life member of the VFW 4713 AUX in Malta. She enjoyed dancing, bingo and taking care of her yard.

She is survived by 1 son, Wayne R. Hedges of Logan, 4 daughters, Patricia (Mick) Sigler of Somerset, Deborah (Ray) Scott of Citrus Springs, Fl., Gwen (Jim) Wilson of Zanesville and Carmen Climer of Lancaster, 1 brother, Melvin Bowen, of Canal Winchester, 2 sisters, Betty Harvey of Bellville, W.Va. and Mary Stebleton of Phoenix, Ar., 21 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas E. Stephens, 1 son, Thomas R. Hedges, 3 sisters, Orella Phillips, Helen Conley and Rena Jones, 2 brothers, Selkirk Atkinson and Mike Bowen and 1 granddaughter, Rhonda Hedges.

Service will be held on Weds. Jan. 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Matheney Funeral Home in McConnelsville with Pastor Ed Sharp officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen South Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Friends may call on the family on Tues. Jan. 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
