According to the 1880 Federal Census, Mary Ann (nèe Crow) Fields (1809-1894), like her husband, was born in Nelson or Washington Co., Kentucky.

I believe I have discovered that Mary Ann Crow had at least two siblings, Susan (memorial ID 73356261) and Harrison Crow. Susan Crow married John Stader in 1833, in Hardin Co. Testifying that Susan was of age to marry was Jacob Huffman.

In 1844, when Mary Ann Crow married James Fields, the same John Stader testified that she was of age. I assume Mary Ann lived with her sister Susan and brother in-law prior to her marriage. The 1850 Federal Census shows that John Stader's farm was adjacent to James Fields' farm, thus providing the opportunity for the two to meet.

James and Mary Ann Fields marriage lasted one-month shy of fifty-years and produced five known children:

• Eliza Jane Vessels (1846-1876)
• William Henry (1847-bef 1889)
• John Thomas (1850-1929)
• Susan M. Hawkins (1852-1914)
• unnamed infant (1860-1860)

The 1850 Federal Census also shows Mary Ann's brother Harrison Craw (Crow) living on the farm with James and Mary Ann Fields, however, I found no further information on Harrison Crow.
