Fatal Accident.
We have been permitted to copy the following extract from a letter, received by a gentleman now in this city. It is another fearful warning of the danger of committing fire arms to children.
Troupville, Lowndes Co., Nov. 10 1849.
An accident occurred yesterday, which casts gloom over every face. Some of the neighbors met at the house of Seaborn Jones. (Allen Jones' brother) to go a driving., his son William, a boy perhaps 9 or 10 years old, was fixing to go with the company, and was told by his father to see if his gun would fire. The boy went out in the yard and attempted to fire the gun. It was loaded with two buckshot and some small shot. The gun flashed - he took the gun from his face and was about to put fresh priming in the pan, when the gun fired and being pointed in the direction of Seaborn Jones, the whole load went into him, entering on the right side a little below the nipples, and one shot entering the left side of the breast opposite the heart. He did not live five minutes, and never spoke. Thus by letting this child handle and use a gun, a most worthy citizen has lost his life by the hands of his own child!
