Eric Prejean, Jr.
(October 23, 1941 - March 8, 2011)

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Joseph Eric Prejean, Jr., age 69, who passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 9:05 p.m. at his residence in Carencro.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Tammy Maturin. The songs will be The Old Rugged Cross, On Eagle's Wings, Be Not Afraid, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, and Here I Am Lord.

Mr. Prejean was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation after 37 years of service. He was also a dairy and cattle farmer and a parishioner of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Prejean had served in the National Guards.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Prejean and his wife, Rachel, of Scott and Richard Prejean and his wife, Donna, of Carencro; one daughter, Jenny Meadows and her husband, Bill, of Carencro; and six grandchildren, Zachary Prejean, Nicholas Meadows, Caleb Prejean, Hayden Prejean, Eric Meadows and Rida Prejean.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean V. Foreman Prejean of Rayne; and by his parents, Joseph Eric Prejean, Sr. and the former Addie Comeaux, both natives of Carencro.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Memorial contributions in the name of Eric Prejean, Jr. may be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion St. Lafayette, LA 70501 or donations may be made for masses in his name.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Heart of Hospice, especially Chanda, Collette, Mandy, Maria, Sheila and Stephanie.

Pallbearers will be Steven Prejean, Richard Prejean, Bill Meadows, Zachary Prejean, Raymond Prejean and Carl Benoit. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Meadows, Caleb Prejean, Hayden Prejean, Eric Meadows, Rida Prejean and Aaron Lormand.
