Mary Alice Garcia of Solomon, 53, entered the heavenly gates Jan. 14, 2005.

Born in Safford on Oct. 5, 1951, to Fernando and Anita Aranda, Mary was the first of 10 children.

Mary attended Solomon-ville School until entering Safford High School and graduating in 1969.

On March 30, 1977, Mary was united in marriage to Pablo F. Garcia. This union was blessed with four children.

Mary enjoyed life and had many passions. She could often be found visiting family and friends.

Mary cherished the special time she spent with Dilly Barragan and Aunt Date Ornelas and her sisters. Mary also enjoyed her purses, jewelry and flowers. She spent many hours in prayer and reading the Word.

Mary is survived by her husband, Pablo F. Garcia of Solomon; her children, Pablo and Michelle of Solomon, Steve and Desiree of Clifton, Daniel "DJ" and Michael of Solomon; her grandchildren, Mariah, Joseph, Matthew and Yelisa Garcia; her sisters, Lynda Perez of Tucson, Cathy Aranda of Solomon, Becky Maldonado of San Jose and Rachel Baca of Tucson; and her brothers, Fernando of Solomon, Paul of Safford, Tommy of Tucson and Frank Gonzales of Safford.

Mary was laid to rest at Safford Cemetery on Jan. 18. Services were held by Dale Clonts of The Church at Safford and directed by Morris Safford Funeral Home.
