LYONS - Bonita Joan Allison, 85, died Jan. 21, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center, Lyons. She was born May 29, 1928, in Mitchell, Kan., the daughter of Ernest and Mabel Hubbard Crowl.
A lifetime Lyons resident, she was a homemaker and a 1946 graduate of Lyons High School. Her memberships included: the United Methodist Church of Lyons and former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons, and she was active in the church. On Sept. 5, 1948, she married Vincent Chapin Allison in Lyons. He died Sept. 11, 1991. Survivors include: son, Craig and Nancy Allison of Lyons; two daughters, Sheryl and Rick Smith of Buhler, Chelle and Rick Cox of Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Jim Crowl of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth "Bud" Crowl, Stanley Crowl; infant great-granddaughter, Tayllor Paige Goans.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, Lyons, with Reverend Bill Connelee and Reverend Marilyn Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons. Memorials may be made to Friends of Animals or Lyons High School Fine Arts Scholarships, in care of the funeral home.
