Florence Mae Atkinson, 74, of Route 1, Mount Vernon, Illinois, died at Good Samaritan Hospital at nine o'clock on the night of December 29, 1967. She had been a patient since she was injured December 18 in an automobile accident on the Salem Road, three miles north of Mount Vernon. Mrs. Atkinson was born June 16, 1893 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles Albert Smith and Laura (Wright) Smith. She was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. On January 5, 1963 she was married, at Benton, to Oscar Grant Atkinson, who survived her. She was also survived by a son, Stanley H. Pierce, and a sister, Ethel Wallace, both of Bonnie, Illinois.
