Mr. Colson Passes Away

Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon at Goodwin's


James Hardy Colson, age 81, died Sunday, November 22, at 10 am at Trigg County Hospital where he was admitted as a patient the previous Thursday. Mr. Colson had been in declining health for the past three years.

Born December 27, 1882 in the Ferguson Springs community he was a son of the late Joe and Sarah Oakley Colson. He was married June 23, 1912 to the former Miss Irene K Fennell who preceded him in death January 11, 1964.

Mr. Colson had spent his entire life in the Ferguson Springs community until three years ago when he retired and moved to Cadiz to make his home. He was a member of Ferguson Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at Goodwin Funeral Home, Tuesday, November 24, at 1 pm by the Rev. J Norman Ellis. Mrs. Paul Perdue, Dr. R W Niles, and Mrs. Sammie Bentley, organist, had charge of the music service. Burial was in East End Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Joe Bill Colson, Cadiz; a daughter, Mrs. Jack Anderson, Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Gentry Colson, Paducah; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Smith, Paducah; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Reed Smith, Ramey Colson, Wayne Colson, Dale Smith, Perry McWaters, and Elmer Fennell.
