Calnan was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Clyde, Kan., to Hans and Julia Matson Andrewson. She married Charles Calnan on May 4, 1945, in Las Vegas. He died July 27, 1995.
She lived in Clyde for 18 years and graduated from Clyde High School, then lived in La Puente, Calif., for 13 years. She next lived in West Covina, Calif., for 10 years and in Hemet, Calif., for 15 years.
She had lived in Springfield-Pleasant Hill for the past four years.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed being involved in her children's activities. She was a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout troop leader and PTA president. She belonged to the Optimist Club with her husband.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Baldwin Park, Calif. She enjoyed growing roses, spending time with her family, gardening, crossword puzzles, bingo, fishing, boating, cooking and travel.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Calnan of Baldwin Park, Calif.; two daughters, Charlyn DeHart and Marsha Koke, both of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Pauline Nelson of Clyde; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A son, Tim, died previously.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield, which is in charge of arrangements. Wednesday's service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Pioneer Cemetery.
