Ella was born in Minnesota and came to California in 1911. She married Charles Elfers in Los Angeles in 1913; they moved to Patterson in 1915. Two daughters were born to this union, Geraldine and Charline. Charles died in 1919, and Ella married Wilfred Knutson in Reno, Nevada in 1937; he died in 1940.
Ella died in a convalescent hospital in Newman in 1976. She was survived by both of her daughters and three grandchildren.
