HIGH POINT - Mr. Eugene Stedman Horney, 84, of Presbyterian Home of High Point, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at his residence.

Mr. Horney's funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2000, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jim Rissmiller and the Rev. Jesse Bledsoe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Eugene Stedman Horney was born in Greensboro, October 13, 1915, to the late William Johnston Horney and Mae Louise Foushee Horney. He was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church where he served an Ordained Deacon and Elder. Mr. Horney was a graduate of North Carolina State University and was retired from Proximity Print Works of Cone Mills. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Japanese Prisoner of War in the Phillipines and Japan for over three years.

Mr. Horney was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruel Capel Horney; brothers, William Johnston Horney Jr., Giles Foushee Horney, Julius Bethel Horney, Robert Lee Horney, Lyndon Swaim Horney and George Foushee Horney; sisters, Mary Louise Horney and Jennie Horney Biddy.

Mr. Horney is survived by his daughters, the Rev. Barbara Horney Rodgers and husband the Rev. D.H. Rodgers III of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Dr. Mary Jean Horney and husband Dr. R. David Roe of Greenville, South Carolina; sister, Annie Elizabeth Boehmer of Sunset Beach; grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Rodgers of Decatur, Georgia, and Kevin Eugene Roe of Greenville, South Carolina.
