A funeral mass for Herman Rankin, Jr., of Llano, Texas, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, Texas with Father William D. Bartniski officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano, Texas at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
Herman was born February 19, 1935 in Rosenberg, Texas to Herman and Julia Kunz Rankin. He passed away on January 16, 2014 in Austin, Texas. Herman was the definition of what makes a good man….kindness, understanding, loyalty, stability, but most of all, love. The love and support he constantly provided for his family and friends will always be remembered and he will be greatly missed.
Herman is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Roy and Ortha Louviere; sister, Gloria, and husband, Irvin Denton; brother-in-law, Glen Pitts; and nephew, Roger Pitts.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 57 years, Grace Rankin; daughter, Angela Wright and husband, Ron; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Caleb Wright; brother, James Rankin and wife, Gayle; sister-in-law, Ida Pitts; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
