Leonard Cherry, 71 Years old, Dies at Home; Funeral Wednesday

Leonard Cherry, age 71, widely known lifelong resident of Shelbyville, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday at his home at 120 East Taylor Street. His death occurred ten days after a stroke of paralysis. He had been in failing health, however, for the past three years.

A tinner by trade, Mr. Cherry was associated in business for many years with the late Tony Boehning and was one of the community's most widely known residents.

The son of Oliver and Melissa(Antle)Cherry; the deceased was born in this city on August 3, 1867. On February 24, 1902, he was married to Miss Nancy Briggs, who survives with a sister, Miss Artelia Cherry, of Glendale, Cal., and several cousins.

James and William Briggs, of this city, are brothers-in-law of Mr. Cherry.

he was a member of Chillon Lodge No. 129, Knights Pythias and members of the order will participate in the funeral services to be held at the residence at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The Rev. Ernest L. Floyd will officiate and C.F. fix & Son, funeral directors will be in charge of burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the residence after noon Tuesday.
