Beatrice Belle Barber Frisby, Age 102, passed away on December 24, 2007. Bea was born to George W. and Mabel (Carter) Barber on January 25, 1905 in a log farm home near West Liberty, KY. Middletown has been her home for 84 years, except for a 5 year period she and her husband lived in Fort Myers, FL.

After graduation from high school, she became the sole teacher in a one room school house in a very rural area. In 1925, she married James R. Frisby, "Dock" as he was always known. They moved to Middletown where they made many friends and raised three children, Donald, Barbara and James.

She is survived by sons, Donald and James and grandchildren, Lee Ann Douglas, Robert and Steven Frisby, Beth Schimmel, Todd and David Brumley and great-grandchildren are Elissa and Philip Douglas, Jody and Scott Schimmel and Robin and James Brumley. Bea is also survived by her aunt, Hazel Carter, Mabel Barber's sister.

The eldest of ten children, she has one living sister, Jean Sheets and a brother Woodrow Barber. She was always active at First Christian Church, was a fearsome bridge player, enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting and traveling. She lived independently after her husband died in 1979, driving her own car and working at election polls until her 89th year.

Since 2003, she has made her home at Garden Manor Retirement Village. Special thanks go to nieces, Rachel Fugate and Betty Snodgraass, deceased and to nephew, James Ratliff and wife Marlys for all the kind attention, support and affection they gave her. Thanks also to the wonderful care givers at Garden Manor. In keeping with her wishes, Graveside Services will be held on December 28, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Woodside Cemetery at the Frisby family plot under the direction of Rev. Laureen A. Roe. Also at Bea's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 4520 Rosedale Rd., Middletown, OH 45042 or the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, PO Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216-3549.

Friends and family are invited to The Manchester Hotel for a reception following the graveside service. Arrangements are being handled by Baker-Stevens Funeral Home.
