KING, NC ~ Winona Sizemore Sands
Townsend of King went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at
Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born July 21, 1939 in Stokes County
to the late Gaston and Bessie Sizemore.

In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Sands, who passed away in 1982 and
Freddie Townsend, who passed away in 1999.

Winona was employed with Belk
Department Store for more than twenty years where she made many lifelong
friends.

She is survived by her "adopted daughter and granddaughter", Debbie
and Nicole Brumbaugh, as well as many friends and family members.

Winona is
donating her body to the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, in hopes of helping
others in the future. There will be no Funeral or Memorial Service, at her
request.

"I would like to say a special thank you to all of you that came to
the Hospice Home to visit Winona during the past five weeks. She told me on many
occasions that she just could not believe all the people that came to see her
and loved her. The Lord has certainly blessed Winona over the past five weeks by
allowing her to know just how loved she has been and how many lives she has
impacted in her life. She has left this world, but for those of us that have
been privileged enough to know her and be loved by her, she will never leave our
hearts. I thank God for allowing me to be part of her life and take this journey
with her. ~ Debbie"

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Hospice &
Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC
27103.
