Al was self-employed as a farmer growing Walla Walla Sweet Onions as a member of Walla Walla Gardeners Association. On Sept. 18, 1949, Al married Betty Jean Gould. He loved traveling and he and Betty made several cross-country trips. Al enjoyed growing a garden and taking care of the lawn and trees. He loved animals, especially dogs. Bowling, hunting and fishing for Steelhead were things he also liked to do. Al loved music and in his younger years, he sang in operettas.
His parents preceded him in death; also a sister, Lena Ponti; a brother, Carl Ponti; and his only nephew, Dick Ponti. Al is survived by his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Gloria Ponti, a daughter, Karlene Ponti and granddaughters Aubrey Ponti and Erin Ponti. He is also survived by his two dog friends, Katie and Skippy.
