Webster R Miller, 75, who has been
in failing health since 1928, died Sunday* evening at the home of Leslie
Ward in Summerhlll where he has
been cared for since 1938. "
Webster was born in Groton, May 7, 1864, the son of Samuel
and Almeera Russell Miller. Me married Mary Belle Townley. who died
several years ago. Many years ago he
was a resident of Homer, where he
was a grocery merchant In the block
now owned by the Brown Hardware
Company. Later he was a talesman for
a novelty concern.
He la survived by one daughter.
Mrs. Mary Belle Miller Cook of Corning, one brother, Judge Nathan L.
Miller of New York , former governor of New York State, and several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held from the
Briggs Brothers memorial home, Homer, Wednesday afternoon at 2. with
the Rev. Arthur Moody- Of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was
made in Cortland Rural cemetery.
Mr. Miller formerly owned a cottage
on the East side of Tioughnioga Lake
and spent several summer seasons In
DeRuyter.(The DeRuyter Gleaner, April 4, 1940)
