BLOUNTSVILLE, July 15 - John B. PENNINGTON, 73, Blountsville businessman and former high school principal, died early today at his residence.
When PENNINGTON retired in 1959, he had served for 42 years as principal of J. B. PENNINGTON High School, which was named for him.
He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Blountsville and was a co-founder of the Atlantic National Life Insurance Co. of Montgomery. He had served on the company's board of directors and was active as its general agent at the time of his death.
PENNINGTON was a member of the offical board of the Blountsville Methodist Church and had served as board chairman for 25 years.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blountsville Methodist Church with burial in Blountsville Cemetery, Lemley Funeral Chapel directing.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Healy, Niagara Falls, NY; a brother Vader PENNINGTON; two sisters Mrs. L. C. Faulkner and Mrs. W. L. Thompson, all of Birmingham. (Source: PP, Vol. 2, No.2, May 1970, pg. 58)
