Wayne Babcock, age 73, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at JourneyCare Health Center, Woodstock.
He was born in Cornwall, New York on August 17, 1940, a son of the late James and Frances (Youmans) Babcock.
He was married to Debra L. Goodrich on June 20, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and she died March 13, 2005.
He worked as a general contractor for Components Group Inc. Crystal Lake, for many years. Following that, he worked at Sam 's Club in Crystal Lake for 14 years.
He was a member of Lord and Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. He loved to golf and spend time with family and friends.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a E-5 during the Vietnam War from Aug. 1957 to Aug 1961.
Wayne is survived by a son, Shawn (Andrea) Goodrich, of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Lindsay and James; mother-in-law and dear friend, Eunice Rigg of Crystal Lake and a host of friends.
He was preceded by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Friday January 17, 2014, at Skaja-Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 Route 14, Crystal Lake. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 18, 2014, at Lord and Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9300 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, with Rev. David Carlovsky officiating. Military honors will follow the funeral service. Inurnment will be in Crystal Lake Union Cemetery at a later date.
