Melvin Jay Rich, age 73, died May 25, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born September 22, 1920 in Boise, Idaho to John Stock and Anna Andrews Rich. Married Harriet Sherman on June 28, 1942 in Boise; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Melvin was in banking for 40 years and at the time of his death he was working for Bruce Shand and Irene Warr. High Priest in the LDS Church and a Jordan River Temple worker. Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster for many years. Umpire and coached Little League and American Legion Baseball for many years. Veteran of World War II. His family was the center of his life. He was a devoted grandfather.

Survived by his wife; son, John (wife Linda) Rich; and daughter, Barbara (husband Bert) Dutcher; all of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services Saturday, May 28th, at 12 noon, Brighton Point LDS Chapel, 3455 East 7800 South. Friends may call Friday evening, 6-8 pm, at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, and at the Ward on Saturday 10:45-11:45 am. Burial will be in Sandy, Utah at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
