Virginia A. "Ginger" Hunnicutt, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at 8:10 a.m. at Lutheran Life Villages, Pine Valley, Fort Wayne, IN. While she had lived in Fort Wayne for the last several years she always considered Huntington her home.

Mrs. Hunnicutt was born September 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Marvin D. and Ada Amelia (Cain) Adams. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Hunnicutt married Robert E. Hunnicutt on May 29, 1954. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1997.

Mrs. Hunnicutt was the secretary in the library at Huntington North High School for 23 years. She was the receptionist at Dream Big Therapy for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN. She volunteered in their soup kitchen for several years. Her most cherished roles however, were those of wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than time with her family and was always there to support and nurture them. She had the ability to listen and make you feel important and special.

Surviving are two sons, Mel (Barb) Hunnicutt, and Tim (Kristi) Hunnicutt, both of Huntington, IN,; one daughter, Rita (Mark) Spears, Fort Wayne, IN,; three brothers, Sam Adams, Washington D.C., John (Laurie) Adams, Huntington, IN, and Chuck Adams, Pendleton, IN. She is also survived by two sisters, June Marschand, Panama City, FL, and Sherry (Jeff) Gressley, Wabash, IN,; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Hunnicutt was preceded in death by one son, Dan Hunnicutt on December 5, 1997; one brother, Ed Adams; and one sister, Ann Rogers.

Calling hours will be Sunday, January 19, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St, Huntington, IN with Father Gary Sigler officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN.
