William Hobson, and his wife Sarah (Williams) Hobson were dedicated Quakers and were members of the Dover Monthly Meeting, in Clinton County, Ohio.

William Hobson was one of the first purchasers of property when the town of 'Clinton' was first laid out in 1810, the name later changed to 'Wilmington'. The lots were laid out on Aug 2nd of that year, and William Hobson purchased lots #6 and #11 on Aug 7, 1810. His son-in-law, William Polk (my ancestor and the husband of Hannah Hobson) also purchased two lots. Said William Polk paid only $6.00 for lot #17 on Sept 3, 1810 but never lived on the property nor in the town of Wilmington. Clinton County records show that William Polk 'leased property for 5 years', estimated to be around 1805, outside of the town of Wilmington closer to a small settlement called Antioch.
William and Sarah (Williams) Hobson had a large family. There are records for at least 14 of their children in the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting Quaker records of North Carolina, and I've found later records of 10 of those children that prove they grew to adulthood and had families of their own. The names and birth records of their children given in the Cane Creek Monthly Meeting records (years of death I've not proven all of them yet but offer them here for others to investigate further):

William Hobson (1763 - )
John Hobson (1765-1835)
Mary Hobson (1767-1768)
Joseph Hobson (1768-1825)
Samuel Hobson (1771-1842)
Jonathan Hobson (1773-1773)
Sarah Hobson (1774-1774)
Hannah Hobson (1776-1869)
Elizabeth Hobson (1779-1779)
Martha Hobson (1779-1835)
Nathan Hobson (1782-1783)
Deborah Hobson (1784-1852)
