George Bishop
Sterling--George Morton Bishop, 79, of Sterling and formerly of Dixon, died Sunday, June 8, 1997 in his residence. He was employed by F.X. Newcomer and Company then for George Bishop Realtor for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1979.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1917 in Dixon to James M and Mabel Lucille (Hodges) Bishop. He married Wanda Lucille Langholf on Oct. 17, 1940 in Dixon.
He was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church and a lifetime member of the Dixon Noon Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryle Kay Salas of Decatur,ALa. and Carol Ann Ellis of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church in Dixon with Rev. Richard Reigle, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
A memorial has been established to the Dixon Noon Lions Club.
