92, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2003 at his residence in Melbourne, Florida. He was born at Duck Run on April 1, 1911, to the late Floyd Frances Duncan and Margaret Higgins Duncan, and graduated from McDermott High School. His career as a stationary engineer took him to many positions in Protsmouth, Cleveland, Dayton and Lebanon. He also farmed for many years and retired at age 76. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Alda Hurley Duncan, whom he married February 20, 1933, two infant brothers, tow brothers, Alfred and Jack Duncan, and one sister, Ethel Duncan. Fondly known as Charlie, he was loved for his smile and gentleness, his unfailing devotion to his family and duty to his work.Surviving are his children, Marilyn D. Ellis, Gail D. Osman, and husband Gary, James E. Duncan and wife Peggy, all of Charlotte, NC, Charlene D. Ellis of Ormand Beach, FL, and Vivian D. Hay and husband Tom of Melbourne, FL, one sister, Ruth Dettwiller of Portsmouth, sister-in-law, Betty Hurley of Dayton, Millie Duncan of Patriot, and Ruth Lockhart of Melbourne, FL, grandchildren, Greg, Pam, Theresa, Amy, Nancy, Scott, Beth, and Jason, great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Logan, Marissa Davidson, Cody Anders, Max, Piper, and Jordan Novick, and Gabrielle Duncan, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday ath the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Bob Hancock officiating. Interment will be in Rushtown Cemetery.
