Fort Wayne, IN Journal Gazette May 2, 2010:
John A. Whitcraft of Reno, NV, passed away on March 5, 2010. Born Sept 1, 1931, he was the son of Cree and Hazel Marie Whitcraft.

He served four years in the US Army during the Korean War.

He attended Purdue University at Lafayette and graduated from Ball State Teachers College, Muncie. He was a teacher for 33 years in Fort Wayne.

He and his wife, Jean, enjoyed their sailboat. After they retired from teaching, they sailed to Florida. They lived in Florida for 16 years, then moved to Reno to be near family.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Loftus Whitcraft; five children, John, Greg, Scott, Renae and Kim; three stepsons, Tom (Conny) Loftus, John (Gwen) Loftus and James (Glennda) Loftus; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life was held at 2 pm Saturday, March 13, 2010, at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1070 W. Plumb Lane, Reno, NV. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Fort Wayne.
