Our beloved B.E. "Bud" "Papa" Livingston passed away on January 12, 2014 in Bristow, OK.

Living persons omitted per FAG rules*

He was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Lee Livingston; his parents and his siblings, J.W. Livingston, Lorene Pease, Pauline Shenold, and Bill Livingston.

Bud was a member of the greatest generation. His thirst for knowledge began in a two-room school house in Pine Hill, a community north of Bristow. He excelled in academics and sports, played football, basketball, baseball and wrestled for the Bristow Purple Pirates and the Sapulpa Chieftains. He graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the Navy. He served abroad the USS Ticonderoga which engaged in several battles and was hit twice by kamikazes. They cleared Tokyo Bay for the USS Missouri where the articles of surrender were signed.

Returning from the war he enrolled at the University of Tulsa and graduated with his degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1950. He worked 34 years for Sun Oil leaving in 1979 to become an independent oil producer. Moving from Tulsa to Bristow he formed the company Sand Creek Production and KATO operating where he remained President until his death.

Bud was a born teacher; Math was his love! He tutored many a high school student through calculus! He taught Adult Sunday School classes, was an Elder and treasurer at Bristow Presbyterian where he and Ann have been members for over 30 years.

Bud was active in his community and served on many boards and committees from Rotary to the Bristow Country Club. He was a Lifetime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers where he was honored with the Legion of Merit and Lifetime Award. Also, he was honored by the American Petroleum Institute with a Lifetime award.

Bud will be missed by many but his spirit will live within all those that he loved. Another great Oilman has departed but we all know he's searching for the next well to drill!

Funeral Service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Bristow Presbyterian Church. Donation may be made to the Bristow Presbyterian Church for the children's nutrition backpack program. Visitation 9:00 am- 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Michael's Funeral Home in Bristow, OK.
