Frank was a clerk at the County Auditor's Office in Detroit for many years. Prior to that, he was a reporter for the Free Press and Detroit Journal (per 1895 city directory).
Per the 1900 census, he was married to Eliza and his occupation was a Journalist/Reporter.

He met the widow, Seddie Powers Smith, who was also a writer and poetess. They married on Christmas Eve in 1904. Her daughter, Jessie, and Jessie's husband, Garret Nevenzel, who was a bookkeeper at the County Treasurer's Office in Grand Rapids, were witnesses at the wedding ceremony.
Seddie died in 1917, leaving him a widow. Frank died i 1920 of senility, contributory cause was Chronic Bronchitis.
