Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Zullinger, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Nancy Koons Barlup.
He attended Washington Township schools.
He was employed on the family farm in Waynesboro; then worked as a truck driver for Wishard Trucking in Waynesboro; and as a mason with the Brick Layers' Union in the Washington, D.C., area for 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He had been a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Waynesboro.
He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro and Brick Layers' Union 1 of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Martha E. Daywalt Barlup, whom he married Aug. 17, 1958; four daughters, Linda Thorsen and Tammie Barlup, both of Waynesboro, Kimberly Noll of Greencastle, Pa., and Sandy Jarvis of Maryesther, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Tyminski and Lula Kahl; and seven brothers, Hubert Barlup, Ronald Barlup, Donald Barlup, Wilmer Barlup, Herman Barlup, Mark Barlup and Richard Barlup.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Dennis L. Ritchey will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
