Born on Oct. 24, 1923, in Wilbern, Ill., to Glenn E. and Grace Jewell Hook Todd, she married Hilmer Joseph Swanson in Junction City, Kan., on June 20, 1942. He passed away in 2000.
She is survived by sons, Gary E. Swanson and Terry "Squeak" (Joni) Swanson, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Suzanne (Ray) Baumruk of Libertyville, Ill., and Brandi Swanson of Peoria; and great-grandchildren, Jack and Spencer Baumruk of Libertyville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Juanita had been the Children's Librarian at the Chillicothe Township Library, retiring in 1988.
She also worked at J.C. Penney and at the First National Bank of Chillicothe.
She had been a member of the Peoria All Study Club and was a founding member of the Chillicothe Historical Society, volunteered at Chillicothe Township and the Alzheimer's Association, and was a charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Davison-Fulton Anderson Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe, with additional visitation one hour prior. The Reverend Eimo Hinrichs will officiate, with interment in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Rescue 33.
