Peggy F. Thrift, 65, of Waycross died Thursday night at Mayo Clinic Health Systems after a brief illness. She was born in Waycross to the late Rufus E. Thrift and Louise Griffin Thrift.

Ms. Thrift had made Waycross her home for the majority of her life. She worked in the imaging department for Satilla Regional Medical Center and was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Thrift loved her family. She loved every moment she was able to spend with them. She was an avid lover of basketball. In high school she was a part of the girl's state championship basketball team. Ms. Thrift was preceded in death by her parents.

Ms. Thrift is survived by her two brothers, Tim Thrift and his wife Beth of Clyde, North Carolina, Jamie Thrift and his wife Connie of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Peggy F. Thrift will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will gather at the home of Grady and Marceil Wildes, 1306 Baltimore Circle, Sunday afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m.
