Helen was born in Huntington, Indiana on August 5, 1927 to the late Raymond and Lucille (Cline) Light. She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1945, then worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she met and married her husband, Jack on April 2, 1949. They settled in Evansville where she dedicated her life to raise their six children. Helen, affectionately called "Grannie," lived her life with a servant's heart as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Family was always her first priority! Helen loved life, family, baking, and all kinds of handiwork. Throughout the years there have been many people who were recipients of her bears, jewelry, paintings, hats and dolls. She and Jack enjoyed spending their winters in their second home in Bradenton, Florida where she enjoyed singing with the Heatherettes and combing the beaches for seashells and sharks' teeth.
Helen is survived by her daughter, IN; sons, brothers, grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Danks; and her son, Michael Danks. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 28, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN, 47711 with Nathan Hazel and Kyle Leffel officiating. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, and again from 10:00 AM until time of service on Monday.
