Nicholas Kann arrived in America on ship Samuel on August 17, 1733 with his wife and four children. On October 30, 1736 they settled in what is now Hellam twp. York Co. PA. on 200 acres granted by Thomas Penn son of William Penn. Nicholas named his plantation Chestnut Level. In August 1764 this land of 200 acres passed to his son Hendrick for 539 pounds.
