Charles "Chuck" Breslin, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014.

He was the only child born to Patrick Henry Breslin and Bela Reckmeyer Breslin in Los Angeles.

Following his high school years, Chuck joined the military and served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. He served on the competition shooting team and traveled to many places in the world as an expert with both pistols, rifles and other firearms. He won many awards and honors for his exceptional abilities.

After his service to his country, Chuck went to work in the aerospace industry, where he was on the original design team that designed the space suits worn by the first astronauts, many of whom he met.

During this time he was also an expert SCUBA and free diver, which he taught in the industry and for the County of Los Angeles. He invented many of the devices which are still in use in SCUBA diving equipment today. He loved the ocean and his diving adventures.

Chuck's first love was dogs and he had a passion for training and competing with his Labrador Retrievers across the country. In 1993, he moved to Paso Robles and opened Four Paws Kennel, one of the finest boarding facilities in the area. This afforded him the opportunity to breed, train and participate in field competitions nationwide, having won many honors. He was an AKC Judge and a NAHRA Judge and a founding member of the Central Coast Hunting Retriever Club, which he enjoyed so much and made many friends.

Large in stature and heart, Chuck's generosity, positive attitude, optimistic nature and infections laugh and humor will be long treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is loved, missed and survived by his wife Jane (married in 2000) daughters Mrs. Albert Stewart, Ruth Breslin (Robert Kraft); granddaughter, Besse Leigh Breslin; grandson, Patrick Breslin Kraft; and great-grandson, Miles Parsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Charles Patrick, 1st wife Mary Hardin Winchell; 2nd wife, June Sedlack Breslin.
