ELDERLY MATRON DIED ON SUNDAY

Mrs. Janie Coulbourne Was Buried On Tuesday

Mrs. Janie Coulbourne, one of the city's most
highly respected matrons, died in the
McCready Hospital at 12 30 a.m. Sunday. She
was nearing her 83rd birthday. She had
entered the hospital for treatment a week
before, but succumbed to the infirmities
of age.

The daughter of the late Charles and Eliza
Evans Tawes, she was born in Crisfield.

For a number cf years she resided in her home
on Myrtle street. Her husband had died many
years ago, and her only son, Elwath Tawes,
also died some years ago.

Mrs. Janie was known and loved by hundreds
of people. She was a motherly woman, a fine
wife and mother, and the kind of neighbor and
friend who put herself out to do things for
others. Kindly, energetic, intelligent, Mrs. Janie
lived a useful life, and there will be many who
will remember her with affection because of
deeds of kindness she performed. A member
of Immanuel Methodist church, she attended
its services when possible and enjoyed them
and the fellowship of the congregation. Her
death is mourned by everyone who knew her.

Her body rested at the Bradshaw Funeral
Parlors until Tuesday, when funeral services
were held in Immanuel Methodist church at
2:00 p.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev.
Melvin E. Wheatley, and Dr. J. Yancey
Fincher.

Interment was in Crisfield cemetery.

Bearers were Charles M. Woolston, Sr., Lake
Maddrix, A. Wellington Tawes, W C. Landon,
Charles D. Briddell and Charles M. Woolston,
Jr.

She is survived by one brother, Mr. Preston
Tawes of Crisfield, and several nephews.
