She was the daughter of Edward Fisher Taylor and Anne Sewell Trezevant.

The stone says she was born in Roselawn, Alabama. This name is no longer known as other than a cemetery and funeral home in Alabama.

Funeral services for Mrs Mary Taylor Davant, 75, former Columbian who died Saturday at her home at Roanoke, Va, after a protracted illness, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Elmwood cemetery, the services to be conducted by the Rev Henry D Phillips, D D, pastor of Trinity Episcopal church.

Mrs Davant, widow of Thomas S Davant, was born December 21, 1851, at Montgomery, Ala, but had spent a large part of her earlier life at Columbia where she was widely known and respected. She was, while in Columbia, a devout member of Trinity Episcopal church and during her residence of 30 years in Roanoke was a member of St John's Episcopal church. Greatly beloved on account of her many fine qualities, her death has caused much sorrow.

Besides a brother, G W Taylor of Demopolis, Ala, she is survived by three sons: H W Davant and E T Davant, both of Nashville, and C R Davant of Bluefield, W Va, also by two daughters, Mrs E B Fishburne and Mrs J B Antrim, both of Roanoke; and by three grandchildren, Miss Mary Ann Fishburne of Roanoke, Mrs John Hanahan and T S Davant, both of Columbia.
