"Services for Oscar Colburn were conducted Monday afternoon in the Savannah Methodist Church by Rev. Thomas D. Hall. Burial was in the Savannah Cemetery in charge of the Breit Funeral Home.

Oscar N. Colburn was born July 9, 1875, near Savannah, the son of George and Fannie George Colburn. He married Mollie Roberts on Feb. 24, 1897, and with the exception of three and one-half years when they lived at Fillmore, their entire married life was spent in Savannah. Mr. Colburn followed the carpenter trade for most of his life.

He was converted in a meeting held at Bedford Chapel and had been a member of the Methodist Church from early youth. His membership had been in Savannah since 1891. He was the secretary of the Sunday school of the Methodist Episcopal church for 15 years, where he was also a trustee and member of the board. He was a member of the official board of the Methodist Church at the time of his death.

Mr. Colburn was a member of the IOOF Lodge No. 74 and the Friendship Rebekah Lodge No. 42 of Savannah, having joined the Lodge in 1921. He was a past noble grand of his lodge.

He died April 11 after an illness of about four and one-half months.

He is survived by his wife; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Deardorff of La Cygne, Kan.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), April 17, 1953
