He served in the US Navy and worked as a supervisor in the Industrial Construction field and was member of Jacksons Gap Baptist Church in Jacksons Gap, AL. Alton was a strong Christian who loved his family and friends unconditionally.
He is survived by two brothers: Harold Canham of Taylors and John Canham of Travelers Rest; a step-daughter: Jenni (Mike) Caylor; a step-son: Brad (Crystal) Vickers and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife: Janis Cooksey Canham; a sister: Sarah Chastain and four brothers: Charles, Jim, Bill, and Clarence Canham.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 1:00 pm in Jacksons Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Jacksons Gap, AL.
