In the back left hand corner, this individual is tucked away. On the back side of the headstone, out of general view, is one of the old iron CSA crosses, which are becoming fewer and fewer. Web research turned up a W.A. Carter, who was a member of Co. E, SC 8th Regiment. I cannot verify if this is the same person.

Note: This cemetery, according to local literature, was established around 1903, by the Hartsville Cotton Mill, for its employees. It seems as though the church came about later, and now oversees the cemetery. I do not know the former name of it.
