He graduated from Brown University and Tufts University School of Dentistry. John established his private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in West Hartford for 25 years.
He worked for the State of Connecticut as Director of Dental Services at UConn Correctional Managed Healthcare, overseeing dental services in the prison system statewide, prior to his death. He was an active member of the Knights of Malta.
He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Harriet Casale and her husband, Gregory of West Hartford, and his son, T. Gordon Hutchinson, II and his wife, Carrie also of West Hartford; five grandchildren, Matthew, Lauren, and Holly Casale, and Haley and Justin Hutchinson, all of West Hartford; sister-in-law, Anne Hutchinson of Middlebury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides being predeceased by his wife, he is also predeceased by his brother, T. Gordon Hutchinson. He will be greatly missed by many close friends, including Kevin Bowman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Sept 25, 10 a.m., at St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasent St., West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be held on Monday, 4-8 p.m., at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main St., West Hartford.
