"Beverly A. Fluckiger, age 70, a lifelong eastside resident, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. She was born on Sept. 16, 1943, in Madison, the daughter of Ernest and Eileen (Tierney) Schmitz. Beverly attended Lakewood School and graduated from Edgewood in 1961. She received her B.S. in 1965 from U.W. Madison. Education was very important to Beverly; she worked for the Madison School District at Schenk/Whitehorse Middle School for 36 years.
She loved traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, coffee time with friends and was an avid reader. Beverly spoke to grade school kids about organ donation.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Jennifer Macheel, Jeffrey (Melissa) Fluckiger, Jeri (Arnie) Theis and Kris (Cindy) Fluckiger; six grandchildren, Madilynn, Wyatt, Jacilynn, Joey, Nick and Lindy; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Schmitz.
Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
