Pauline E. Brown, 89, of Ellettsville, formerly of Mitchell, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care of Ellettsville.

She was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Charles and Gladys Cooper Wedgewood. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Reliance Manufacturing, M. Fine & Son, and Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center. She was a member of First Christian Church in Mitchell, Lawrence County Homemakers and Dixie Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Owen of Ellettsville; one son, Larry Brown of Seymour, who works in Madison; one sister, Wilma Mayden of Jeffersonville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley R. “Brick” Brown, whom she married April 16, 1937, and who died in 1984; one daughter, Joyce Ann Brown; one sister, Mary Hawks; and two brothers, Gene and Rayburn Wedgewood.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell. Burial will be in Knott Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Christian Church in Mitchell.
