Click Columbus Murphy of Sparta, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 23, 2004, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Handy and Buster Murphy; and a sister, Nellie Johnson.

Mr. Murphy was born April 20, 1918, to the late A.R. and Emmaline Tompkins Murphy.

He was a former Alleghany County deputy.

He is survived by his wife, Ola Mae Phipps Murphy of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Dr. Bob Brice of Winston-Salem; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Janie Murphy of Independence, Va., Wade and Patsy Murphy of Roaring Gap and Chris and Kathy Murphy of Sparta; a stepdaughter, Mary Collins and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the Little Pine Church of the Brethren with burial in the church cemetery.
