OPELOUSAS — Two oil field workers and a local farmer died in different accidents in this area yesterday.

Dead are Maurice Burum, 42, Houston, Tex., who was drowned in a borrow pit; Grant Lincecum, 21, Columbia, who was killed in an oil field accident, and Ambrose Pitre, 45, who died of injuries from a traffic accident.

Lincecum lost his life at noon Sunday in an accident in the Palmetto oil field about 20 miles from Opelousas.

Lincecum was on a rig when a heavy chain being used to load machinery broke and struck the man in the head.

He was an employe of Glasscock Drilling Co. of Shreveport and was working on the Brewer-Newstadt oil well.

His body was taken to the First National Funeral Home, and will be shipped to Shreveport.
