Son of Harriet "Hattie" (Sigafus) and Robert Alcorn.

He married Sabina Faye LaShell on March 21, 1921 in Savanna, Carroll County, Illinois. They had one daughter - Lavonne Maxine Alcorn.

Earl was a construction engineer while serving in the Army during World War I. They lived in Moline, Illinois and later moved to a farm in the Highfill community in Benton County, Arkansas.
