"Died at the Washington Hotel, Lake Ponchartrain, on the 21st September, of yellow fever, Capt. Woolman Gibson, late commander of the steam boat John Watchman, between Mobile and New Orleans. His funeral was attended at New Orleans by a large concourse of citizens; and as a token of respect to the deceased, the steam boats and vessels in port carried their colours at half mast.
