Patricia Miller, 87, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 5:45 am, Friday, January 3, 2014 at her home. She was born April 1, 1926 in Peru, Indiana to Edgar and Agnes (Hummer) Ernest.
Pat was a graduate of Peru High School and the St. Vincent Hospital Nursing Program, in Toledo, Ohio. She married Keith Eugene Miller in Muncie, Indiana on July 5, 1951; he died December 27, 2004.
She retired from Wabash County Hospital after 39 years, where she was also the Director of Nursing. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wabash. Pat loved to play cards, read, work puzzles, and especially her dog 'Corky".
She is survived by two daughters, Denise (Steven) Farringer of North Manchester, and Diane (Bud) Brown of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Matthew, Holly, and Lauren Brown, all of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Charles (Carol) Ernest of Montgomery, Alabama, and James (Theresa) Ernest of Toledo; and her sister, Jo (Albert) Chackmak of Coarsegold, California. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Wanda Underwood, and Mary Jane Akers.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Herb Hughs officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 p.m Monday, January 8, 2014, and 1 hour prior to the service, Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Wabash-Miami Home Healthcare and Hospice or the Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
