Police and coast guard units to day were searching the Mississippi river for the body of a 6-year-old boy who drowned after falling from a float. Arnold Alstad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Alstad, 1908 Riverside avenue, followed his brother, Jerome, 13, to the east river bank below Washington avenue Arnold bridge, where Jerome planned to fish. Jerome was on the float when he looked around in time to see his brother disappear. The boy apparently was swept beneath the float by the current. Jerome gave the alarm and search began immediately.
